HCPC CPD requirements explained
The HCPC does not set a fixed number of CPD hours. Instead, it requires all registrants to maintain a continuous, up-to-date CPD activity record and be able to demonstrate how their CPD has benefited their practice and service users.
HCPC CPD at a glance
What happens in a HCPC CPD audit?
At each two-year renewal round, HCPC randomly selects 2.5% of the register for a CPD audit. Those selected must submit a CPD profile โ a structured document demonstrating that their CPD has been varied, relevant, and beneficial to service users. HourlyCPD generates exactly this kind of profile, with activity logs, categories, reflections, and hours breakdowns in a clean, exportable format.

Verified supervision โ the HourlyCPD difference
Many HCPC-registered professions include supervision as a core element of professional practice. HourlyCPD's supervision log tracks individual and group supervision sessions separately from your CPD activities, and the optional supervisor verification feature provides an additional layer of evidence for your audit profile.

HCPC CPD โ frequently asked questions
Does HCPC require a minimum number of CPD hours?
No. The HCPC does not specify a minimum number of hours. What matters is that your CPD is varied, relevant to your scope of practice, and that you can demonstrate how it has benefited the people who use your services. A quality, well-documented record is more important than the total number of hours.
What are the HCPC's five CPD standards?
The HCPC's CPD standards require that registrants: (1) maintain a continuous, up-to-date and accurate record; (2) demonstrate that their CPD activities are a mixture of learning; (3) seek to ensure their CPD is relevant to their current or future practice; (4) seek to ensure their CPD has contributed to the quality of their practice and service delivery; and (5) upon audit, present a written profile demonstrating how they have met these standards.
What happens if I am selected for an HCPC CPD audit?
HCPC will contact you by email and give you 40 working days to submit your CPD profile. The profile must describe your CPD activities, explain your approach, and demonstrate the impact on your practice. HourlyCPD's PDF export generates a structured summary that you can use as the basis for this submission.
Can I use HourlyCPD if I hold more than one HCPC registration?
Yes. If you hold dual registrations (for example, as both a physiotherapist and a clinical scientist), you can add both as separate memberships and log activities against one or both simultaneously.
